NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION DETERRENCEFAILURE: PARADOXES OF PREVENTIVEMILITARY STRIKES IN THE IRANIAN CASE
Authors Obike Hilary N Iheonu Allens U Ololo Ejike Abstract This study examines the counterintuitive relationshipbetween preventive military strikes and nuclearproliferation outcomes, focusing on the 2024–2025 U.S.-Israeli bombing campaign against Iranian nuclearfacilities. Contrary to the deterrence logic thatunderpinned Operation Rising Lion, empirical evidencesuggests that kinetic counter-proliferation strategies mayinadvertently accelerate rather than retard adversarialnuclear weapons programs.
